Period property extension & internal re-design

This property has had many manifestations over time, including being the local Post House and village store, as well as having been subdivided into two dwellings.  The client wanted to draw out the property's unique charm and personality, but also to reorganise the living space so that it worked for a busy modern family (and Dexter the dog!).

In response to the client's brief, concepts were developed which opened up the back of the property to provide a connected kitchen and family room.  This area was further enhanced by the addition of a single storey rear extension dining area which also allowed direct access to the garden.  On the first floor, the removal of the second staircase and landing (a legacy from when the property was divided into two homes) allowed for a re-configuration of the bedrooms and provision of generous bathroom and en-suite facilities.
